Dolly Parton fans may be having a conniption...

... but I like it!

Ladies and gents, this is a clip of Fergie performing Dolly Parton's "9 to 5" on the Charlotte Church show. This clip makes me very very sad...

... because it reminds me of the good 'ol days. Remember those days? When Fergie was that cute blonde girl in the Black Eyed Peas with the tight dance moves? Remember when Fergie actually SANG? And how she actually had a pretty decent voice? I miss you, good-ol-days Fergie! Come back!

Also, whoever styled her here did a pretty awesome job. The hair and makeup look polished, but still fun. I'm not nuts about the dress, although it is kind of appropriately office-y and sorta kinda cute. And she looks like she's showered, which is nice. But the main thing is that no part of her boobs or abs or butt appears to be visible.

Once more: COME BACK FERGIE!

oh my god, i couldn't agree with you more! i'm a huge dolly fan, so i'm skeptical when anyone covers her stuff (go away, jessica simpson!) but i actually enjoyed this performance. and holy crap, i had completley forgotten that fergie 1. could sing and 2. could look cute and kind of normal. we should start a "bring back fergie!" campaign!

I'm not sure that two former child stars singing "9 to 5" really works for me, but it is nice to see Fergie not ruining BEP or biting Gwen Stefani's bit. Remember when she was in Wild Orchid?

Meg: I am wishing and praying that you're only kidding about Jessica Simpson covering a Dolly Parton tune. But I know you're not. Sigh. We definitely should start a movement, we can still save that girl!

MOTC: You don't have to like it per se, it's all about relativity. She looks relatively like a girl, is singing relatively well. She is not literally rubbing chocolate cake all over herself. Improvements!

To steal Gwen's bit... would that be to... I dunno, obnoxiously spell out names of various fruits and pass it off as song?

Also, is Wild Orchid like Wyld Stallions?

No, Wyld Stallion is awesome.

I love the Black Eyed Peas, but I'd rather stab myself in the ear than listen to Fergie do her solo... what passes for music (Fergalicious and My Humps)...

So... two things - Alanis Morrisette has a fantastic parody of My Humps out there! I guess it's actually a cover of it, but, uh, I laughed. A lot.

And Return of Benji!!! Have you seen the video Candyman by Christina Aguilera? Totally cute song, like naughty Andrews Sisters, totally retro, 40's, oh, so cute! But, there's dancing in it (duh) and Benji is the Candyman!! He gets to dance! With Christina!! Watch the making of the video (24 minute episode) on MSN video:

Miss Glitterati, I still love the site. It's nice to know that there are other make-up- and lotion-addicts out there!

MOTC: WYLD STALLYNS RULZ!

Jennifer: I think the thing that gets me most about Fergie is that she COULD sing, but she chooses not to, and instead does squacky "rap". Oh, and all the work that has turned her into a greasy mannish thing...

But oh my God, you have made my week. Possibly my month. I LOVE Christina and I LOVE Candyman and I LOVEEEEEE BENJI and now I am having a lovegasm watching the video over and over. This is the best thing. THE BEST. Thank you so much for alerting me to this beautiful, glorious video!
