The Motion of Benji's Ocean!

Hola! Oh man oh man, what a CRAZY number that was last night. It took this long to get my heart-rate down to a reasonable tempo so that I could write this without threat of cardiac arrest.

First: You Can't Stop The Beat!!!! I just about died when I learned that the routine was set to this song. I actually performed this number (very very poorly, in comparison to the stunning Benjyelle) in full 60's regalia. It was as if Benji pointed at me, winked a little, did his kissy-smirk-mouth thing, and said "This one's for you, G! Keep on sparklin'." Sigh.

Also, never never never did I think that a man in a TUCKED IN TIE could look hot, but there he goes, breaking records and shattering preconceptions again. But that is hardly unexpected... those two shook their fanny muscles, yo! I LOVED it, so much cheese, but so very good! I'd like to think that this is how Benji dances when he's alone in his room (in his boxer briefs, of course) after eating too much candy. Wheeeee!

I was, of course, not surprised by Nigel's comment. Even Cat Deely knows to prepare her eardrums for the onslaught of Benjyelle fandom whenever she introduces the duo. I was, however, perplexed by Nigel's hair. Did he cut it, flatten it, or dye it? All 3? Who knows!

My predictions for bottom 3 tonight? Ashlee/Dimitri (brother looked STIFF!), Heidi/Ryan (damn you, whatshisface!), and Natalie/Musa (or maybe I just really hate that Promiscuous song). Ivan & Allison looked really spankin' hot, I must admit. And it was nice to see Martha all dolled up... very Lady Day of her, I thought.

Hey, and how great was Brian Feldman's quickly back-pedalled comment about Dan Karaty's choreography? I see a pretty-boy choreographer Dance-Off in the future. Maybe David Bowie will help judge.

And finally.... Taylor Hicks, WTF?!?!! Singing Ford jingles??? Is THAT where winning American Idol will get you in life?

Now if you'll excuse me, I have to go buy a poodle skirt and practice those Charleston-butteryfly-jiggly knee things that were happening all over the stage last night. And then work on my Funky Chicken, Gobbling Turkey, and Toyota Jump. No you can't! / Yes you can!! / No you can't! / Yes you can!!! / YES WE CAN!!!!!

I'll move my comment to this more appropriate thread -- didn't mean to hijack your PSA.

Well, I kinda did.

Ms. G, you asked about when Donyelle proclaimed her relationship with Benji to be that of good friends thus confirming that which I have been saying all along. When they were learning the routine, Donyelle said she was glad that they'd have a chance to do something that wasn't all lovey but could showcase their personalities more and their true friendship.

Perhaps you were squealing or clapping too much to hear anything that was said?

Ahhh... yes yes, I vaguely remember that. Between all the SQUEEEEE-ing and the foaming at the mouth, the details were kind of foggy...

Awesome show last night, I agree with your predictions of the bottom three. I feel for Heidi, she's had to dance for her life way too often.

I think that Heidi's partner should be kicked off this week. I like him and all, but he seems to have a bad attitude. I'm still angry about how he didn't want to be her partner. I'm just not sure which girl should go. Maybe Ashley?? Mostly because I would like to see Dimitri and her dance together (because they auditioned together so at least they know how to dance together already). Ahh, I love this show, haha!

I hate to say this, but I think it's time for Ashlee and Dimitry to go.

Both are the SAME exact characters no matter what they dance. Dimitry hasn't gotten any more fluid in his upper body, and Ashlee's limitations are becoming more apparent as the competition rolls along.

Did you see Benji kiss Donyelle? No other couple stands like they do. I'd say something very special is happening between them.

Heidi...what a great dancer. She's so impresssive and I like that Brian said nice things about him. As a judge, he's easier than Dan, though Dan always said what he felt was the truth.

Mary? That cackle is getting to me! And Nigel looks like he had a major hair matt put on last night.

I am sulking this morning over Musa!! I was sure both Dmitry and Ashlee were leaving. Natalie and Musa's contemporary routine at the beginning of the competition remains one of my favorite non-Benjyelle moments.

Booo to Nigel!

Although I am glad he told Natalie to tune down the sex kitten thing. And I am super excited about seeing 3 dances from everyone next week. Let's hope Benji and Donyelle randomly choose each other from the hat. (Although I am skepitcal about the "randomness" of the choosing as it seems to me as if there is only ever one card in the hat. It's rather suspicious that no couple has had a duplicate style from one week to the next. Also, Cat tends to put the hat on her head or flig it around willy-nilly after couples choose their dance and -- as no cards fall out -- that would seem to indicate the hat is empty. This would be fine if it was just after the last couple chose their style, except she does it 3 or 4 times per show. Very Suspicious, I say.)

My theory is there's only one card in the hat when each couple picks the new dance. So there's no real random choosing, the judges pick - well it's a theory anyway.

I was a little surprised about Musa but I think I only really liked him because of his connection with Natalie. I'm so looking forward to the 2hr show.

I was also shocked with Musa's departure from the show. Although he really did rely on Natalie a lot so I'm not all that surprized they let him go. He probably wouldn't have worked very well with a new partner. And thank the reality tv gods that they told Natalie to tone it down. She really was getting on my nerves with the overly sassy attitude! Maybe now she will dance normal and not striper-esc.
So excited for the 2 hour show!! But sad that the couples are being split up )o=

Donyelle did not say " showcase their personalities more and their true friendship", she said they get a chance to "showcase our actual personal friendship this time." A slight difference makes all the difference. Seems coy to me, like there's more to it. Just wanted to clear that up.

CW: I know, hey? I mean, no matter how awesome you are, there's only so much material you can think up of every week. Things should be looking up for her this week though!

JaNeal: Oh yeah, I'm all about my obsession! If you're going to be a raving fangirl, do it right! :)

Kat: Ryan's attitude really bugged me too. Like, who carried you through the Vienese waltz and the latin stuff? I love how when he's loafing and counting on her, he's all "oh, Heidi's so great", but the minute he feels insecure, it's "Well, HEIDI knows what she's doing, but what about ME?" Suck it up Princess!

Poster #1: That was the thing that bugged me most about Dimitri -- his stiffness even after all these weeks. The judges keep fawning over his solos, but the show is about "growth", right?

And I think maybe the Mary Murphy cackle scared Nigel's mop into submission...

BRG: I'm a bit surprised at Musa too... And that "draw out of a hat" stuff is totally sketch. I wonder if they grill the dancers on how to act like there's more than one card to be drawn.

CW: Natalie & Musa were like the Homecoming Royalty of the show... both very pretty people, but I wonder how they would have done if they weren't so attractive. (Unlike the TRUE royal couple, who have abundant craploads of both charm and talent.)

JaNeal: I hear ya on that, Ryan and his pouting need to go!

Kat: I wasn't super surprised, but I would have definitely picked Ryan over Musa to leave. Musa had great personality, and was memorable, at least.

Anon@9:14: So.... you're saying there's still hope??? ;)
